Sheri Fong, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Co-Associate Director of the Office of Medical Education at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). She is the Chair of the JABSOM Curriculum Committee and previously served as Chair of the Pre-clerkship Education Committee for 11 years. She is also the Conference Chair of the annual local Health Professions Education Conference (HPEC), and was the co-conference chair of the AAMC Western Group Collaborative Conference in 2023 and conference chair of WGEA 2014. She is currently the President-Elect of the Association of Biochemistry Educators.
Dr. Fong is a JABSOM graduate, receiving her M.D. in 1996 and Ph.D. in 2003 in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology. She joined the JABSOM faculty in 2005, first with the Department of Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology, then with the Office of Medical Education. She is an active teacher within the medical school, mainly for the pre-clerkship years, and is the Co-Course Director for the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Curricular Course for first year medical students, the Biochemistry Discipline Coordinator for Medical Education and long-time PBL tutor, biochemistry lecturer and simulation facilitator.
